The crankshaft, as the central component of the engine, connects the drive train (clutch, gearbox, etc.) to the pistons and cylinders.
In this process, the bearings of the crankshaft are subjected to high loads.
In most cases, the crankshaft is a forged and correspondingly robust component.
More frequently, the main bearings of the crankshaft wear out.
If the crankshaft bearings are worn and not replaced in a timely manner, damage to the bearing surfaces of the crankshaft can result.
It is therefore advisable to check that the crankshaft bearings are in good condition when working on the engine.
