The old locks of the Porsche 924, 944 and 968 tailgates often have the problem of creaking and rattling noises when driving. The cause is this silicone insert: on hardly any vehicles, the original rubber inserts in the lock are still intact, allowing the tailgate pins to move back and forth undamped by body movement. The formerly white material is hardly ever completely intact and is usually very darkly discolored and crumbled. The funnel-shaped insert is pressed into the latches of the trunk lid from above. You can simply squeeze the rubber inserts into the lock from above after cleaning and greasing the pawls in the lock. As seen in red in our example photo, the four heels arranged in a ring must protrude from the lock again. This will eliminate the unpleasant rear window noise and allow you to completely overhaul your rear locks.
