The wishbone is a central part of the chassis and takes over the guidance of the steering knuckle. The wishbone thus provides a defined connection between the wheel and the body.
The most common cause of wishbone defects are the rubber bearings, which become brittle and crack over time. As a result, the wishbone has more play without the desired damping. Accordingly, a defective rubber bearing on the control arm is noticeable in reduced tracking accuracy, noise development on bumps (rumble), poorer driving dynamics when cornering and high wear on one side of the tires. Since a damaged control arm can affect other components of the chassis, it should be replaced immediately or the damaged bushings should be replaced.

This set is uniball joints, which are protected from penetrating dirt by dust caps. The original rubber bearings can thus be replaced for a sportier ride.
